Isaiah 55:10 English Standard Version (ESV)
10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:10New King James Version (NKJV)
“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:10-11The Message (MSG)
8-11 “I don’t think the way you think.
The way you work isn’t the way I work.”
“For as the sky soars high above earth,
so the way I work surpasses the way you work,
and the way I think is beyond the way you think.
Just as rain and snow descend from the skies
and don’t go back until they’ve watered the earth,
Doing their work of making things grow and blossom,
producing seed for farmers and food for the hungry,
So will the words that come out of my mouth
not come back empty-handed.
They’ll do the work I sent them to do,
they’ll complete the assignment I gave them.
God’s will, will always be accomplished in the earth. The promises He has made to me will come to pass. Sometimes, while waiting, I try to figure out how everything will happen. Often, I get anxious waiting. I know that the way God does things are very different than how my mind works. God’s ways and thoughts are perfect and mine are flawed. I am reminded of the verse that says He uses the foolish things to confound the wise. I will not pass up any opportunities or direction from the Lord that do not look ideal or practical. God’s ways are the best ways. I will not be like Naman refusing to jump into the water to be healed from leprosy because God’s direction for healing wasn’t as miraculous as he thought it should be. I am will go forward fearless and obedient.
